Los Andes

Project Objective:

Create illustrations for each city visited during a 3 month backpacking trip through South America using each city's unique features. Each illustration would be animated using a combination of Adobe Flash CC and Adobe After Effects CC and then used in a short film of the trip.

Illustrations.

All final illustrations were paired with a photograph of each city taken during the trip. This made each illustration work as a stand alone image as well as a series. Different patterns and unique city features were illustrated for each city. All elements within the illustrator drawings were separated as layers which made each of them easily editable using Adobe Flash CC.

Animations.

The animation of the illustrations served to introduce each new city in a short film of my trip though South America. It was also a great exercise to become more familiar with Adobe Flash and its integration with Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premier. 

Each element from the illustrations was animated independently in Flash and then put together in After Effects. This allowed for greater flexibility when choosing start times and playback speeds.

Overall, the illustrations worked well with the video by highlighting each city's specific character
